Créer une clef USB de survie
Certains logiciels malveillants et
virus réussissent à s'installer même si vous avez un bon logiciel antivirus installé sur votre ordinateur. Pour contrer cette possibilité, vous pouvez
créer une clef USB de survie qui contient les outils nécessaires pour remettre
votre ordinateur en marche.
Avec PortableApps, un logiciel
libre qui permet d'installer et exécuter des logiciels à partir d'une clef USB
vous serez prêt dans l’éventualité où vous ou un proche êtes infectés par un
virus informatique.
1. Pour
commencer, vous aurez besoin d'une clef USB d'au-moins 1 Go.
2. Téléchargez
le fichier de PortableApps et double-cliquez sur l'icône et
choisissez la clef USB comme emplacement d'installation et suivez les
instructions d'installation.
(L'application est disponible en français).
3. Une fois
l'installation complétée, cliquez sur la clef USB dans l'explorateur de
fichiers et cliquez ensuite sur l'icône Démarrer. Maintenant vous pouvez choisir les
applications à installer.
Il existe une longue liste
d'applications disponibles, mais puisque nous créons une clef de survie, nous
allons nous concentrer sur les applications de sécurité. Voici mes suggestions pour votre clef de
survie:
ClamWin Portable:
C'est un logiciel antivirus. Selon la description sur PortableApps:
ClamWin est
un antivirus gratuit pour Windows. Il
offre une interface graphique pour le Clam
AntiVirus. Ses
caractéristiques comprennent:
- Un haut taux de
détection pour les virus et logiciels d'espionnage.
- Des mises à jour de la
base de données de virus. L'équipe
de ClamAV met à jour la base de données régulièrement pour inclure les
nouveaux virus et ses variantes immédiatement après leur apparition.
- Un programme antivirus
indépendant.
Puisqu'il est indépendant, il roule de la clef USB, alors il fonctionne
plus lentement qu'un antivirus
régulier. Par conséquent, il
n'est pas affecté par les virus locaux sur l'appareil.
Spybot Search and Destroy:
Cette application est conçue
pour détruire les logiciels espions, le genre de logiciel qui trouve des renseignements
personnels et les faits parvenir à un serveur externe. Il est efficace aussi pour supprimer les
fenêtres-pub de votre fureteur.
KasperskyTDSSKiller
Portable:
Il sert à supprimer les trousses administrateur pirate et selon la
description:
L'utilitaire TDSSKiller combat les logiciels
malveillants de type trousse administrateur pirate.Win32.TDSS et les trousses
de démarrage. Même si ce n'est pas un
logiciel complet, il peut supprimer des trousses administrateur pirate
d'ordinateurs infectés qui utilisent un logiciel antivirus périmé ou sans
protection.
Google Chrome:
Puisqu'on est en mode
survie, on pourrait avoir besoin de faire des recherches avec un fureteur avec
lequel on peut avoir confiance sur le type de problème qu'on rencontre et qu'on
essaie de supprimer.
RKill:
RKill est un utilitaire qui
arrête les processus qui bloquent l'usage de fichiers .exe, même lorsque lancé
à partir de la clef PortableApps. Vous
devriez télécharger cette application et la copier à votre clef USB.
Si vous cherchez une
solution clef en main qui ne requiert pas tous ces téléchargements, une
compagnie québécoise propose une clef USB à 60$ appelée FixMeStick. La clef
contient les logiciels antivirus Sophos, Kaspersky et Vipre. Le hic est que vous devez renouveler votre licence
tous les ans au coût de 60$.

Creating a USB Survival
Key
Some malware
and viruses manage to install despite the fact that you have good anti-virus
software installed on your PC. To

PortableApps, free open source software that lets you install and run software
from a USB key, you will be ready in case you or someone you know is infected

1. To start, get a USB key with at least 1 GB capacity.
2. Download the PortableApps file,

3. Once the installation is complete, click on the USB key
in your file explorer and click on the Start icon. Now you can choose the portable applications
to install.
There is a
large list of applications available, but since we are making a survival key,
we will concentrate on security software.
Here are my suggestions for your survival key:
ClamWin Portable:
This is anti-virus
software. According to the description
on Portable apps:
ClamWin is a free antivirus for Microsoft Windows.
It provides a graphical user interface to the Clam AntiVirus engine. It features:
- High detection rates for viruses and spyware
- Regular virus database updates. The ClamAV
team regularly updates virus databases to include a new virus/variant
immediately after it appears
- Standalone Virus Scanner
Since it's a standalone virus
scanner, it runs from the USB key so it will run slower than your regular
anti-virus. However it will not be
affected by a local virus.
Spybot Search and Destroy:
This
application is used to destroy spyware, the kind of software that collects personal
information and send it back to a tracking server. It will also remove annoying pop-ups from
your browser.
KasperskyTDSSKiller Portable:
This is a root kit remover and according to the description:
The TDSSKiller
utility fights malware family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS, bootkits and rootkits. While
not a full-blown antivirus package, it can be useful when removing rootkits
from infected PCs with outdated or no protection installed.
Google Chrome:
Since
we are in survival mode, we want a browser we can trust will not give us the
annoying pop-ups. Installing a browser
can be useful to do research on the type of problem you are trying to
eradicate.
RKill:
RKill is a utility that
stops processes that will block the use of an .exe file, even when started from
the PortableApps key. You should
download the application and copy it to the USB key.
If
you're looking for an all in one solution that doesn't require all this
download and installation work, a Quebec company proposes a $60 USB key called FixMeStick. The key contains Sophos, Kaspersky and Vipre anti
virus software. The catch is that you
must renew the license every year at a cost of $60.
